A brand-new pop-up, Katsu & Buns has launched at The Chapel Bar Terrace in the heart of Islington.

The new concept features twists on Asian street food favourites, as well as a ‘bao-undless’ buns and bottomless booze brunch offering.

Katsu & Buns founder Shaun Smith launched at the end of 2022, with the aim of combining Japanese classics and best-loved street food. Small plates will sit alongside a selection of bao buns, burgers and rice dishes.

Every Saturday and Sunday from 11.30am-7pm, diners can enjoy an array of bao buns from Korean porkPeking duck and pumpkin katsu baos to shiitake mushroom teriyaki and chicken katsu and satay buns. Brunchers can also get some free-flowing Prosecco or a choice of some Japanese cocktails.

The Chapel Bar is an events space near Angel statio with a large open plan space on the first floor, featuring a fully stocked bar leads out onto a Katsu & Buns terrace. Nestled amidst hedges, this is a great spot to soak up the sun all day
