The Mall Tavern is a brand new gastropub in the heart of Notting Hill Gate. Owners Jonathan and Andy Perritt have teamed up with Chef Jesse Dunford Wood, a rising star on the London dining scene.

The Mall Tavern is the third venue from the Perritt Brothers whose stable also includes The Regent in Kensal Green and The Stag in Hampstead. The brothers have become well known for stylishly refurbishing local ‘boozers’ that have seen better days while at the same time radically changing the food and drink offerings and creating a great value, good quality experience that is immediately embraced by the local community

Jesse joins the team at The Mall Tavern after recently helping one of his great culinary mentors and friends, champion of gutsy British cooking Mark Hix to launch his second restaurant in Soho.

Jesse’s daily changing menu for The Mall Tavern focuses on a good range of hearty modern British dishes and a fine selection of bar food, all cooked with great finesse, ‘honest, nostalgic British food’ as he likes to call it.

To start, choose from: Cornish fish Soup, Citrus cured salmon; Whipped goats cheese, roasted pumpkin and bull’s blood lettuce and Chicken liver pate, piccalilli and crisp breads. Main courses feature Cow pie, with a hunk of bone marrow replacing the horns; Macaroni cheese with smoked bacon; Fish fingers with mushy peas and tartare sauce; Portobello Mushroom and Mrs Kirkham’s pasty and Chicken Kiev with hash brown and coleslaw. For pudding there is Arctic Roll, and Rhubarb and Champagne jelly as well as a good selection of English artisan cheeses, priced individually.
