These tastings will be held every Sunday in June, featuring a different winemaker each week and see guests have the opportunity to sample 5 different wines for just £5.

The Meet the Winemaker series is a rare opportunity for wine enthusiasts and novices alike to explore Portugal’s diverse and dynamic wine scene.

At Bar Douro London Bridge, located moments from Borough Market, guests will meet winemakers for a curated selection of wines with informal ‘around the barrel’ tastings. The tastings will take place from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

The series kicks off on 4th June with father and son winemakers, Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno and Frederico Alves Nuno of Quinta das Bágeiras. They will showcase five exceptional wines, reflecting the distinct character of the Bairrada region. On 11th June, Joana Pinhão of Casal das Aires will transport guests to the Tejo region, showing off her sublime old vine wines.

Bar Douro’s winemaker tasting series continues into June, featuring Hugo Mendes on 18th June. Hugo likes to work with local varieties from Lisboa and Tejo and heritage techniques in the Alentejo where he makes an accomplished Talha wine. Lastly, on 25th June, guests will have the pleasure of meeting Miguel Queimado from Vale dos Ares, a boutique family-owned winery producing single varietal Alvarinho from the Monção e Melgaço sub-region of Vinho Verde.

To enhance the tasting experience, Bar Douro’s Executive Chef Neuza Leal, will create an authentic food bite inspired by each region, ensuring a perfect pairing that excites the palate and elevates the overall enjoyment of the wines.

These wine events see Bar Douro collaborate with sister-company FESTA, known for its selection of Portuguese wines.

Tickets for the Sunday Wine Tastings – 5 for 5 | Meet the Winemaker series cost £5, offering participants five 50ml tastes of the showcased wines. For those seeking a more indulgent experience, a pairing bite can be added for an additional £5, making the ticket price £10 in total.
