Chef restaurateur John McClements has just opened a new restaurant, A Taste of McClements, in Kew. Working together with head chef Reality Champ, John has created a tasting menu-only format, which will see a menu of around 16 dishes, served to diners in a bijou, 20-seat dining room. The restaurant, open for dinner only Tuesdays to Saturdays, is at 8 Station Approach, Kew TW9 3QB, telephone 020 8940 6617.

The frequently changing menu is a return to the classic techniques John sees A Taste of McClements as offering a high end dining experience in a setting which accommodates both special occasions as well as diners simply looking to try a novel dining experience. The tasting menu currently includes a langoustine ravioli with chopped cabbage; Jerusalem artichoke velouté; egg yolk ravioli Benedict with truffle; turbot with chilli jam and confit fennel; and breast of quail with foie gras. It offers fantastic value for money, priced at just £29. A vegetarian option is available alongside. The dishes are beautifully presented, some individually and others as a complementary trio, served on miniature dark wood trays or ornate plates and bowls.
