Having never been a fan of watermelon, the fruit had always seemed rather lacking in body and flavour; I was pleasantly surprised by Rubicon’s Watermelon juice, their latest product. -

As a simple, effective way of feeding up to eight people, the classy Emile Henry Tagine is the tops. Like a good casserole or stew there's pretty much nothing that can go wrong with a tagine cooking session, but it scores high marks for real wow factor and ia magical way with tenderising meat. With it we brought some North African sunshine to a somewhat overcast South London last weekend. -

Due to go on sale in Tesco stores from September, Norseland’s blended Wensleydale with Sour Cherry & Plum sounds an odd combination of flavours, but having tasted it, the crumbliness of the Wensleydale and its mild flavour does work with the fruits, and makes for a nice mouthful. -

I once got searched at Madrid airport for guns, drugs, bombs, and knives etc, all the normal things that a middle-aged, clean shaven respectably dressed, Western European man is suspected of carrying, and the coppers lifted out of my onboard bag a 2kg bowling ball of cheese. ‘Oh dear, I’m in trouble now,’ I thought, but they simply put it to one side while they cheerfully stuck needles through my toothpaste tube. I felt like pointing out that a 2kg cheese would be a far better hiding place for a bomb or gun, but thought better of it. -
