With her first book, Cooking Like Mummyji, Vicky Bhogal used her experience of growing up an Anglo-Asian to bring real Punjabi cooking back home. Here were authentic recipes that were, to non Asians, a bit of an eye-opener. Then came a Year of Cooking like Mummyji which went further by cooking with the seasons in a variety of Asian styles. Now with this book, Vicky has embraced pretty much the whole world as the title suggests.
Camino- a taste of Spain in Kings Cross
We were invited to Camino to sample the new range of wines that owner Richard Bigg is introducing, in association with his supplier Ben Henshaw, from Indigo Wine, who specialises in the supply of Spanish wines. This cavernous tapas bar/restaurant with its exposed Victorian brickwork giving it a kind of rustic feel, is set in the courtyard of The Regent Quarter, a stone’s throw from King’s Cross Station, in Pentonville Road.

‘Nick! Trousers!” Yes indeed my keks are once more collapsed around my ankles as Ian Pengelley, Head Chef of Gilgamesh, has spotted. Fortunately they are chef’s checked trousers worn over my normal ones so this Grandpa Simpson moment is not too embarrassing for the ladies from Good Housekeeping and the BBC who are also on this cookery course.
