The thing you have to say about Little Bay is that their food is very good indeed, surprisingly good, remarkably good and, what’s more, it’s bloody cheap. You also have to say that the restaurants themselves are rather odd.

Chapters restaurant in Blackheath has a good feel to it, set out on two levels, both are stylish, comfortable and welcoming spaces. To mark the launch of their summer menu, guests were invited to an evening of beer and oysters.

Tasting notes talk of strawberry and melon and that is definitely true. It’s a refreshing little number for pre-drinks and at just 8% won’t have guests too bleary before the first course, a danger with champagne.
