SOCIeTY Bar and Restaurant, Blackfriars, London. Modern British restaurant and bar serving great food in modern comfortable surroundings
Opened recently SOCIeTY bar/restaurant has sharp contemporary decor, which they refer to it as ‘industrial elegance’. Although a little ‘off the beaten track’, it’s but a couple of minutes walk from Blackfriars station and City Thameslink. With great food and good atmosphere, this is absolutely a society that I’d be happy to drop into from time to time.
A Grelha, at the Gun serves up hearty food, freshly grilled, slap bang on the edge of the Thames.
There’s something about summer that just calls for some outdoor eating; we went to A Grelha at the Gun in London’s Docklands for some Portuguese-inspired food and fresh-as-a-daisy fish, all al fresco, with the Thames a shimmering backdrop. Go while you can, because it won’t be there forever. Just don’t forget to take a jumper.

The Three Oaks: a posh country bistro opens in posh country Gerrard’s Cross
You don’t need a fast car to dine at The Three Oaks – but the chances are you’ll spot one there. Joanna Biddolph wished she’d taken her ancient Rover to the car wash before setting off for this posh part of near-London where good value, quality, generous portions and lashings of jus are always on the menu.
Foxs_biscuits_launch_Ambers
Does the world need another chocolate biscuit, asked Joanna Biddolph before confirming that we do. Fox’s Ambers fill a hunger gap none of us thought we had.
Terra Rossa olive oils
Terra Rossa claim on their packaging that they choose ‘the best olives from the finest and oldest groves in the world dating back to biblical times.’ They also claim to blend them until the ‘distinctive aroma and flavour’ are achieved. Each of the oils we tasted worked perfectly as dipping oils, that’s how we enjoyed them.
