Zuma zoom into action to aid Japan

With original donation figures set to reach a total of £100,000 during the summer, the founders of Zuma and Roka – Arjun Waney and Rainer Becker – were astonished to learn that through the phenomenal generosity of their guests, the amount has just reached £150,000.

Mont Tauch L’Ancien Comté Grenache Blanc

Wines made entirely from Grenache Blanc aren’t commonly available in the UK, making this wine something new for most people’s palates to savour. India Dining, Warlingham

They say that the Warlingham area has more millionaires than anywhere else in England, outside of London that is. There’s one less this month though after the sad demise of local lad Smiley Culture. Barbican Lounge

So, if you just want some great food served in a tapas style while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere, it’s a great place to visit.

Bombay sapphire: 250 years of clear and hazy memories

I don’t remember the journey home and whether I looked left and right for floodlit views as I crossed the bridge. But I do have a receipt for a pizza eaten (to soak up the liquid, presumably) in one of those thank-goodness-they-exist-when-you-need-them chains. And I will be making cocktails over long weekends when recovering is possible.

Soaking up the story of gin

The onset of summery weather and the consequent upsurge in gin consumption coincided with Tuesday’s ‘Distillers’ Dinner’ at Hix Soho. Master Distillers Desmond Payne and Sean Harrison spoke to guests about some of the history and philosophies behind Beefeater and Plymouth gin and Dre Masso, a leading cocktail maestro, talked about the launch of new website GinandTales.com
