From October 4th this year Soho Restaurant, Quo Vadis will be opening its doors for Sunday lunch and dinner.
The Abbeville, Clapham, re-launches
As we walked through the door of The Abbeville, we were struck by its old fashioned feel, the main entrance leads to a fairly small bar area, a couple of steps up from the entrance level. As we arrived we were each offered a glass of some soft bubbly Prosecco, which, of course we took and were then invited to take a look around.
Waldo’s at Cliveden House
Waldo’s is named after the architect of the great fountain in Cliveden house’s driveway, Thomas Waldo Story. It’s not perhaps the best of names to have chosen – I keep thinking of Nando’s – but this is seriously fine dining.
Cliveden House – a home and a hotel
Cliveden House is one of the most gorgeous luxury hotels in the UK and just a short ride from London or Heathrow. Nick Harman went to sample life as lived by the infamous Cliveden set in the ’30s and to eat at Waldo’s the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, one which puts the gourmet icing on the weekend stay cake.
Ortega – Spanish with a Riojan accent
Visitors during Ortega’s Rioja Festival can enjoy a tasting of the restaurant’s Rioja selection with matching tapas dishes specially selected to help enhance the flavour of each wine. A tasting of six wines from the Rioja selection, paired with six specially selected tapas dishes, along with bread and olives will be available for £15 per person from today.
Veggie and Organic London
Recently revised and re-printed, the Veggie & Organic London guide, written and compiled by Russell Rose, is an authoritative guide to vegetarian and organic eating, drinking and more in London.
The Avalon
A short walk from Balham station, and very close to Clapham common, the Avalon is a little away from the main shopping drag, but in our view is all the better for it. A popular destination, serving great food, it is well worth a visit.
Bringing Gastronomy to Gaol
Douglas Blyde goes to prison. No, not as punishment for his purple prose, but to sample the food at the Clink, the only restaurant in the UK to be located inside a prison. Not only did he rather enjoy this unique experience, he was even allowed out to offend again.
Leek & Mushroom Lasagna with Four Cheese Sauce
If you think this dish is just for vegetarians, you’d be wrong! I am usually a total carnivore, but this dish left me 100% satisfied! With its rich cheese and leek sauce and beefy mushroom bite, it’s a great alternative to meat and really easy to make!
