Barceló Imperial Rum is an excellent sipping rum and would make a great Christmas gift for any rum drinker, but it would appeal to anyone who enjoys warm caressing after dinner drinks. So, you might just want to buy an extra bottle to have in the drinks cabinet to offer guests as an alternative to the usual brandies, Armagnacs and liqueurs this Christmas.
Findwine showcase their Wendouree wines
I was recently invited by the team at Findwine to a tasting where they were showcasing their wines from the Wendouree vineyard. I understand that purchasing wines from this vineyard is extremely difficult; their wines are normally sold only to private purchasers in small amounts. Take a look at the Findwine site, it’s worth exploring, you might find some little treasures as you do.
Boschendal – excellent wines from South Africa
We tried two of the Boschendal wines, the Chenin Blanc and the Shiraz, recently and were impressed with each of them. These two South African wines were each very good and we thought were well priced. In our view they represent good value for money, perhaps wines to consider for your festive tables.

A bit of a do. A guide to the royal wedding breakfast
The cat’s out of the bag. Prince William and Kate Middleton are finally engaged and speculation reigns about the forthcoming nuptials. While we all love a good royal knees-up, here at Foodepedia HQ we’re not really interested in where it will take place, who will design the dress, or whether Carole will kickstart the conga – all we want to know is what will be on the menu!
Baileys go nuts this Christmas
Baileys really know their main market is Xmas, much as they would like to move it on into all year drinking. Somehow the British psyche associates Baileys with Xmas as much as it does Warninks Avocaat and Stone’s Ginger Wine, drinks my parents would put out on the sideboard every year for the 18 years I lived at home.
Food Safari in Kernow
Douglas Blyde wastes no time in sampling Cornwall’s bounty of meaty crabs, saline oysters and hardy cattle…
Welsh Whisky – sample it for free
Wales’ only whisky distillery, Penderyn Distillery, has teamed up with some of London’s top bars to give out free drams of smooth and warming ‘Welsh Gold’ to Londoners every Wednesday this winter.
What a load of waffle
Wafflemeister’s 50s-themed waffle store is designed to evoke the rock ‘n’ roll revolution of that decade (although that has yet to reach Belgium) and is echoed in the decor with leather finishes and chrome accents.
