Smile or get out of the kitchen – Adam Handling
200 full colour images and over 80 recipes all of which I’d happily eat, it’s a book to perhaps satisfy the emerging or experienced home chef; you’ll need to know how to walk before you can run with this one, although his Goat Shepherd’s Pie looks easy enough once you’ve got your goat, of course. ‘
Blending La Unica
Knowing very little about wine, which makes him honest if nothing else; Nick Harman gets schooled in blending by Felix Solis Wines and even drinks wine cocktails

Macanese cuisine – The taste of the world, confined to a single kitchen
If, four weeks ago, someone asked if I knew where Macau was, I’d have said yes and then hoped there wasn’t a follow-up question like:’Well, where is it then?’. I didn’t know where Macau was, my first answer, just a foolish attempt to look clever and cultured.
If someone asked me that question now, I’d say:’Of course, it’s near Hong Kong’. I’d also go on to say that this month, there is an opportunity to sample Macau cuisine at A. Wong, in London’s own Victoria.
Fabulous food at Le Saint James Bordeaux
High on a hill, Le Saint James Hotel in Bordeaux offers unique style, fantastic views, superb food and a cookery school as well. Nick Harman went to try it all.

Eating and drinking the Mexican way at Mezcal Cantina, Dalston
Walking into Mezcal Cantina is like stepping into the physical embodiment of *that* Mexican stereotype. Everything you expect to see and more adorns the walls – they even have a remote controlled shrine to the Virgin Mary. Honestly. It’s loud, it’s colourful, it’s attractive from the street outside, has a cocktail list as long as your arm and for reasons he can’t explain, the owner tells me that they attract a lot of parties at the weekend. Strange that.
