Commonwealth Kitchen at the Commonwealth Club

Starting in June, on the first Saturday of every month, the Commonwealth Kitchen at the Commonwealth Club will be hosting a varied series of music and reader events. These will be accompanied by a three-course lunch or dinner designed by head chef Oliver

The Jam Tree a gastropub in Chelsea

The menu makes no apology for offering something for everyone, the ambience is cool and the staff pleasantly unprofessional, in a good way, and relaxed. The Asian side seems to be stronger than the others, although the burgers did look good as they went past. Slightly hotter starters and I could really warm to The Jam Tree.

Underground Food Market in Kilburn

The sofa’s been shifted and there’s a woman selling cushions in the bedroom, where a DJ proudly points out that it’s the Tavares’ It Only Takes a Minute, which Take That later covered, playing over the speakers. In the hall, an ominous-looking palm reader flicks through tarot cards. This unremarkable north London flat, with an ice-cream van parked on the drive, is throbbing with food ravers.

Iberica wines, a taste of Spain

This is an exciting development and I selected six of these new wines to these shores, two white and four red, to give you an idea of the flavours you might expect as well as their quality. These were some lovely wines with good fresh vibrant flavours; they’ve been well selected by Bruno Murciano, Iberica’s sommelier.

Careering around the Cotswolds

Nick Harman races around the Cotswolds like local lad Jeremy Clarkson on E numbers. The challenge? To eat starters in one place, mains in another and dessert at a further place still. Why? Who knows, all he can say is that the food was great, the scenery beautiful and he’s very glad he didn’t have to take Richard Hammond along.

Petrichor, The Cavendish Hotel, Jermyn Street, London

Petrichor has a seasonal a la carte menu and describe their cooking style as ‘contemporary British’. The ingredients used in preparing their dishes are sourced wherever possible from British farms and producers. The food at Petrichor was excellent and the atmosphere was sedate and charming we very much enjoy our meal there.
